Nepal set a world record by organizing the first-ever Fashion Show at the Everest Base Camp. By organizing The Mount Everest Fashion Runway, Nepal holds a new Guinness World Record for the Highest Altitude Fashion Show on Land ever.
The Fashion show was held at the base camp of Mount Everest at an elevation of 5340 meters (17541 feet), which is at Kalapatthar. The Fashion Show was held on 26th January 2020, which was organized by RB Diamonds, Kasa Style with the support of the Nepal Tourism Board and the Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign. In this fashion show, models from various parts of the world participated including Nepal, Finland, Italy Sri Lanka, and Singapore.
The main theme of the Mt Everest Fashion show was to raise awareness about climate change by promoting sustainable fashion as well as give the message to the world about the possibility of different activities that can be conducted in Nepal.
In this event, the organizer showcased the bio-degradable fabric of Nepal. All the design, materials, and patterns used in the fashion show was natural, organic and all Nepali product line from Kasa. The clothing used in the fashion show is made using Nepali Pashmina, Yak wool, and Felt which were ideal for winter. Apart from the clothes, the event also showcased a beautiful display of Jewellery designed by RB Diamonds. All the jewelry displayed in the even represents the various Nepali art, culture, and heritage.
The show was attended by Mr. Kedar Bahadur Adhikari- Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Officiating CEO of Nepal Tourism Board-Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa, Chairman of RB Diamond Mr. Ramesh Maharjan along with other dignitaries.
