On May 31, 2018 – the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) announced the “Visit Nepal Year” in 2020 with the target of attracting 2 million travelers to Nepal. Before the MoCTCA had visioned Tourism in 2020, they had planned to celebrate Visit Nepal Year 2018, which was dropped out due to the delay in the construction of airports as well as reconstruction of the cultural heritage sites and roads. After the failure of the Visit Nepal 2018 plan, the government put forward a new campaign in the year 2020. By this time, all the road and airport up-gradation and heritage restoration projects will be completed.
With the announcement of the Visit Nepal Year campaign, the government aims to create employment opportunities in the country which will support the prosperity of the country. The Government of Nepal first launched the National Tourism Campaign in 1998, in which Nepal hosted 463,684 visitors, representing a growth of 10 percent. In 2011, the government launched another Nepal Tourism Year campaign with the goal of bringing 1 million tourists. Although actual arrivals fell short of the target, 736,215 tourists visited the country or a growth of 22 percent over the previous year.
After the earthquake of 2015 hit Nepal, which killed over 9000 people and injured nearly 22,000 people. Because of this huge disaster, the inflow of tourists in 2016 as the number of tourists halved compared with the previous year. However, in the years 2017 and 2018, the inflow of Tourists significantly increased. The campaign Visit Nepal Year in 2020, will sure to give the world a positive message, and the campaign helps to realize the importance of Tourism in Nepal, both nationally and globally.
We, Himalayan Scenery Treks and Expedition, respect the immense exertion of the Government and are glad to help the campaign and make the campaign grand by accomplishing the objective of bringing 2 million travelers by the time of 2020. We will be happy to join hands with the government to promote the beauty of Nepal globally and make the campaign a grand success.
