    Frantastic trip

What an experience! I returned from a EBC trek a few days ago which was guided with great skill and humour by Narayan and his team. It was very reassuring to have blood oxygen and heart rate checked each evening to see how we were fairing as we climbed higher.

Make sure you have a good level of fitness because this is no stroll up your local hill....

Fantastic white water rafting and Everest Base Camp trek experience!

The whole experience in Nepal was fantastic and I would highly recommend Himalayan Scenery Treks! After arriving in Kathmandu we had a couple of days white water rafting near Fishling with the fantastic guys at River Fun, who made the rafting experience fun, safe and enjoyable, before enjoying a fantastic fireside party in the evening and spending the night at the River Fun resort. After a second morning of rafting, we made our way back to Kathmandu for a couple of days, including a nice tour of the major temples and attractions in the city, before flying out to Lukla airport to trek to Everest Base Camp.

Our trek was led by the amazing Narayan and his assistant Govinda, who were fantastic at making us feel welcome, telling us all we wanted to know about the many villages, mountains and sights we saw, and making sure we were safe and well looked after throughout the whole tre. They were supported by their fantastic team of porters, whose energy and friendliness made the whole trip an amazing experience!

The trek itself is truly awe inspiring, taking in the lower Himalayas before acclimatising at Namche and heading deep into the mountains, eventually arriving at Base Camp. It's no exaggeration to say the scenery is world class every step of the way, and the sense of achievement when reaching Base Camp is incredible. It's a tough trek, especially if you're not too experienced, but I feel that most people with a reasonable level of fitness and some training could complete it, and Narayan and his team monitored closely to make sure we were safe to continue trekking each day.

I can't recommend this trip highly enough for adventure seekers, avid hikers and anybody who feels they want to experience Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar for themselves! And I highly recommend Narayan, his team and Himalayan Scenery Treks to organise your trek and look after you on the journey. Not only highly professional and experienced, but also some of the loveliest people you could hope to meet! I very much hope to return to Nepal and this part of the Himalayas again in the not too distant future and would have no hesitation in choosing the same people to guide me there!

White Water Rafting & 15 day EBC Trek to Nepal with Himalayan Scenery & Trek

I have recently returned from an amazing holiday (October 2017) in Nepal with Himalayan Scenery and Trek, which included a 2-day rafting experience and a 15 day trek to the Nepalese Everest Base Camp. It was without doubt one of the best places I’ve ever visited for a whole host of reasons, none more so than the expert organisation and guiding that my fellow trekkers and I received. I travelled with 2 friends and ended up in a group of 12 during the Base Camp trek. The rafting was done on the Trisuli River, which threw up some fun and wild rapids and imprinted a permanent smile on everyone, both in and out of the raft. Our guides were great and the scenery was like something out of Indiana Jones (as is the whole country really). We stayed at a great overnight camping spot beside the river and were entertained with cultural dances in the evening, following a tasty BBQ.
The trek itself was absolutely incredible. Although it’s stated as 15 days, that includes 2 experience days in Kathmandu and 2 acclimatisation days on the way up. Kathmandu itself is a pretty crazy place and reminded me a lot of Bangkok with manic traffic, endless noise and strange smells, but that was offset by a city of ambient colour with friendly people, lovely food, beautiful temples and fascinating markets selling all and sundry.

Our trek began after a heartbeat-raising flight into Lukla, flying mere metres over mountaintops in a tiny prop plane before arriving on a short, angled landing strip that certainly puts a smile on your face. We were introduced to our amazing guide, NARAYAN, who was 100% the best thing about the whole trip. Not only did he have a vast knowledge about the area, having been a porter and a guide for most of his working life, he also spoke superb English and was also hugely entertaining, never failing to make us laugh. He was helped by another guide – Gobinda – who was also great to have around and very hard working. Completing the package were our team of porters – about half a dozen of them, who we saw carrying three or four of our massive rucksacks each, every day, covering the same distance we did… inspirational and certainly a sight to see.

The epic scenery we encountered will forever be ingrained in our memories. In a matter of days (or a single day if walking back down) you can go from forest to grassland to shrubland to snow-capped mountains. We really lucked out on the weather with blue skies and sunshine the whole time. Every time we looked up it was a perfect photo opportunity. After a while we realised that most of the evening was spent deleting duplicate photos we had taken ourselves but it was hard not to resist the temptation of such beauty. Along the way we encountered all manner of mules, yaks, dogs, and monks. I even ended up playing football with them and scored my highest ever goal. We all thoroughly enjoyed having a kick about, after which we followed them into the monastery in Tengboche to watch them pray.

The Base Camp route was certainly a busy one, with occasional waiting to allow the non-motorised traffic to pass. The temperature was surprisingly warm for the majority of time we were there, having stayed in shorts and t-shirt for the first 4 or 5 days trekking. Items I would definitely recommend bringing are: lip salve, decent sun cream, Vaseline, solar charging power cells, purification tablets (or flasks with purification stick), a buff/face mask, $40 for entry visa and at least £500 - £650 equivalent to change into Nepalese rupees, a camera or decent camera phone and a positive attitude! Some people chose to take anti-altitude sickness tablets, Diamox. I chose not to and the only occasions I suffered were overnight where I had trouble sleeping and experienced painful headaches. This happened on maybe 2 or 3 nights but nothing a couple of painkiller didn’t sort out. Some people also swore by using poles – particularly going downhill, these were of paramount importance for certain people. Being a fit 37 year old I didn’t bring any poles (perhaps naively) although if I were to go again I would still leave them behind, but anyone with knee problems should definitely bring them.

In terms of strenuous activity there were times it was pretty hard going, particularly the 4am start to ascend Kalapatthar (which was totally worth it), but every step is leading you towards your goal and you only need to look up at the scenery to be energised enough to keep going. In our party we had 3 people over the age of 60 and aside from one or two of the steeper sections (which were voluntary) they made it up and down successfully. Some of the lower altitude paths are quite dusty and with the dust being kicked up by yaks and trekkers it does tend to hang in the air and get into your lungs. Quite a few people wore covers/buffs over their mouths, but breathing in the heat or while going uphill might have been uncomfortable for them.

One of the finest moments was, of course, our first sighting of Everest – there ended up being plenty of opportunity to see Chomolungma and it never failed to hit us with raw amazement in abundance. The best viewing was from the top of Kalapatthar and we even spotted a few mountain climbers on one or two of the other 7,000m+ nearby peaks. My friends and I are now considering coming back in 2 or 3 years to conquer a 6,000m+ peak ourselves. All in all it was an absolutely fantastic and totally unforgettable experience that I’d recommend to anyone. Himalayan Scenery and Trek were a great company to go with and if you can ask for Narayan as your guide you certainly won’t be disappointed. And don’t forget to please, PLEASE, remember to tip the guides and porters healthily. They can only work six months of the year and this is their living after all.

A massive thank you to Ramkrishna, who helped organise it all, and to everyone else at Himalayan Scenery and Trek.

To anyone who ventures out there, have a brilliant time collecting some amazing memories!

Amazing Experience - Best Guide Narayan!!!

Bought a scoop-on deal in Aus for me and my mate to do the 15day Everest Base Camp trek. Fairly good communication with the company, however didn't get the bag or map that was supposedly part of the deal. No huge issue.
The trek itself was magnificent. Very tough physically but the friends we made with our group(18 of us) got us through. One of our members had to be evacuated out by helicopter on second last night/morning and the way we all came together is a memory that I will always have.
Now to the big stars of the trek and the top of the list is easily our guide Narayan. He was absolutely sensational, knowledgable, fun and made the trip the experience it was. I would only ever book again if I was guaranteed he would be the guide. His assistants Gorkul, Ram-hari and others were also fantastic. They were fantastic, always checking on us, our health, what we had eaten and drank. Very professional. Couldn't recommend these guys enough.
Thank you for all the memories.

Himalaya Scenery and Trek Everest Base Camp Trip

I saw the 15 day Everest trek advertised on Living Social early this year. I decided to book the trip direct with the company, through Ram the boss, at the same price £499. My trek took place in late September/early October this year, the weather was fantastic and I did it in shorts throughout. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. It is the trip of a lifetime and if you are lucky enough to meet people similar to those that I did on the trek you will cherish the memories for the rest of your life. Ram arranges everything at the Kathmandu end and I was impressed with the transport arrangements and the Hotel Access. BK was our guide throughout the trek and he helped to make the trip an absolute joy with his humour, professionalism and understanding and care of those on the trek. Walk at his pace and you will not only complete the trek but you will also see all of the sights on route. Just a few points, remember that the toilets and the accommodation will be basic. You will not have the chance to wash properly very often. Wet wipes are essential. Do not take any of the food packages offered, it is far far cheaper to order and pay for what you want at the time. The guide takes your order and you pay him at the end of each meal, very slick and no effort. Take enough local currency from the start. Water is very expensive and increases in price the higher you get. Everywhere has free drinking water, take a platypus and some sterilisation tabs and you will be fine. In summary, I recommend this company and hope to book the Annapurna Trek through them for next year I also arranged my own flights to Kathmandu via Doha with Qatar Airways and can also recommend them. Hope this helps.

    EBC Sept/Nov '17

I would like to recommend Himalayan Scenery and Ram Krishna, and the best guide in the world BK!!!!!
We started in Kathmandu, 15-day trek to EBC. Amazing flight to Lukla. It was hard, steep walk, not showered for couple of days, don't expect toilets as we know it, 6-8 hours walk everyday, food is vegetarian (in mountain only), you will get fed up with it after few days, but you have to eat to have an energy.
We were so tired, but BK kept checking on us all the times, if we are okay, how is our breathing in thin air, if we have headache (as it can be dangerous). Even if weather was not very clear, BK kept us busy and entertained all the time.
Unfortunately after we climbed EBC I end up with high temperature (that I couldnt get rid of), Altitude sickness, which can be life-threatening. Of course my partner and BK were by my side and BK recommended emergency helicopter. I was so stubborn and wanted to continue with trek, but the hardest day of 20km trek down was in front of us, so it was safer to not risk it.
I spent one day in hospital recovering. Shame I couldn't finish it, but I'm glad I'm alive. Thanks to my partner and BK.
This is eye-opening trip of lifetime. Thank you so much.
